Fet-Esch

Origin of the Boat Name

The naming of our boat comes from Southwest Native American traditions and our last name.

Webster "fetish" : an object believed among primitive people to have magical power to protect or aid its owner; broadly, a material object regarded with superstitious or extravagant trust or reverence.

Native Americans from the Southwest have used fetishes since prehistoric times. A fetish is an object where a spirit lives. If the fetish is treated with respect it will help the owner with supernatural powers. Any object can be used as a fetish, but many are carved from stone. The fetishes are these carved objects that usually are animals that have a significant meaning based upon what they are.

Fetish symbol "turtle"

The turtle is a creature of the water. Turtle is a link to the past and long life. Turtle is a symbol of longevity and Mother Earth; Love & Protection: Healing: Knowledge.

Fet-Esch : Defined

An object (Boat) believed by us to have magical powers to protect and shelter us. Our symbol, the Turtle, represents our love of nature and Mother Earth and our desire to enjoy it for a long time.

If Turtle has come to you, you are being asked to respect the Earth more in your daily activities. If Turtle, the representative of Mother Earth, has come to you you may want to ask yourself if you are too busy naming, classifying, and filing nature to be able to communicate with it and understand its message.
